The care label wins
This guide offers general habits, but the garment's own care label is authoritative. Materials, dyes and print techniques can require different treatment.

Wash with less stress
Turn garments inside out, separate colors and avoid overloading the machine. A cool cycle and a measured amount of mild detergent are a sensible default when the label allows.
- Skip fabric softener when the label advises against it.
- Do not soak printed garments for extended periods.
- Treat stains with a small, hidden-area test first.

Store clean and dry
Fold heavier knit pieces to avoid shoulder stretch. Keep garments dry and out of prolonged direct sunlight, and make sure seasonal storage is breathable and clean.
